Connect to WiFi with Windows 10

On your desktop, click the Network icon in bottom right-hand corner of your screen. This will bring up a list of available connections.

Find the name (SSID) of your WiFi network and click on it.

Ensure Connect Automatically is ticked and then click Connect.

Enter your WiFi password.

You’ll see an option that says “Share this network with my contacts”. We recommend you don’t tick this box.
This option is a part of a brand new feature in Windows 10 called WiFi Sense – it’s not particularly useful unless your visitors also have Windows 10 devices. We recommend you don’t tick this box until the Windows 10 settings make it clearer about exactly who you’re sharing access with, or allow you to choose specific contacts. At the moment, you need to nominate your entire contacts list for an app such as Skype, which may include people you don’t want to share WiFi with if they ever visit.

Click OK to finish. Your computer should remember your password for you from now on.

Connect to WiFi via WPS

WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) is available on most smartphones, tablets and Windows computers, however it is not supported on Mac OSX computers, iPads, iPods or iPhones.

IMPORTANT: WPS connections have similar permissions to Guest WiFi. You’ll be able to use the internet, but you won’t be able to access other devices on your home network or log into you modem’s default gateway to configure the modem settings. If you need to configure your modem, please follow the instructions for your device’s operating system to enter the WiFi password.

If your modem features WPS, you can use it to connect WPS-enabled devices to your WiFi without needing to supply the WiFi password, which is useful if you have visitors.

The instructions for WPS can vary for different modems, software and devices, so please check the manufacturer’s website for support information if these steps don’t work for you. Here’s some general advice for a WPS connection:

Take your WPS-enabled device to the same room as your modem.

Press the WPS button on your modem (typically on the back or side) to turn on WPS search mode.

Turn on WPS search mode for your device. If you’re not sure where this option is in your device’s settings, please check the manufacturer’s website for support information.

Once both devices have WPS search mode turned on, they should establish a connection to each other automatically.

If the connection fails, you can always try again. Keep in mind that search mode only stays activated for 2 minutes or less.
